The Family Theatre Series is an interactive, literature-based performance
program for children and their parents and caregivers. The Family Theatre Series features two professional actors, Sarah Braun and
Peter Zeilinski, bringing great children’s stories to life. The children in the
audience are encouraged to participate by acting out the characters with their
bodies and their voices.
The Gingerbread Boy, Frog & Toad
and more was performed. Managing Artistic Director, Michelle Pauls, of B.Somebody Productions was the program narrator.
The best part was the joy of the children and their families as they part-take in the telling of the stories. It was a beautiful day at the park under the shade of the tall trees.
Objects that tell stories from more than 5,000 years of Fishtown, Northern Liberties and Port Richmond history were on display Thursday, July 17 at the First Presbyterian Church Kensington.
The museum-quality exhibit featured numerous artifacts unearthed at several sites beneath I-95 in the Fishtown and Port Richmond neighborhoods — including the site of the former William Cramp & Sons Shipbuilding Co. — along with a variety of historic photographs, interpretive exhibits, and a slide show of the excavations.
Artifacts found include tools, arrowheads, cooking pots and smoking pipes crafted by Native Americans who lived along the Delaware River from 3560 B.C. to 1500 A.D. Also on display were historical artifacts dating from the early 1700s through the early 1900s associated with fishermen, shipbuilders and tradesmen who lived on the waterfront during this period.
The exhibit also included objects and information about the glass industry that developed on the Delaware River waterfront during the 18th through early 20th centuries.
Staff from URS Corporation and PennDOT’s archaeological team on the project were present to provide additional information and answer questions. ( 1 ) Pastor Rev. Shawn Hyska and church volunteers warmly greeted the hundreds of neighbors that attended this well organized event.
The church is also hosting a Community Dinner on Saturday July 26 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. This will be a time and a place where we can all come together as Fishtowners, enjoy a good meal, and be in fellowship with each other. It's free.
Thank you Pastor Shawn for a wonderful event and allowing me free access to photograph the exhibit and the beauty of this church.
Geez! What a mess. In the Ukraine they're bombing their own country. Some folks in the Eastern part though it would be a good idea to secede from the Ukraine and form their own country. Now how does that all look? They're bombing their own country.
It's not difficult to understand how the Ukraine was thrown into chaos and violence that escalated into acts of secession and the bombing of their own country.
Russian language television was pulled from the air waves. Nothing's sacred. The Russian language, by law, is no longer recognized as an official language in the Ukraine which is spoken by millions. This is nuts!
Mess with my TV. We in the USA have beaten that drum to do the same. Make English the official language of the USA. This ran at fever pitch when our nuts wanted to prevent public service organizations, including medical, from providing interpreters. Now how does that all look?
Mess with my TV. Some folks are angry because most TV shows have SAP (Secondary Audio Programming) or Spanish Audio Program. Why do these people get to listen in Spanish when they don't have SAP or Secondary American Program on Univision and all those other Spanish speaking channels.
Mess with my TV. Now how does that all look? Bombing your own country. Who's in charge?
The top headline in the news is very sad and disturbing. A fifteen year old Israeli boy died when a Palestinian rocket exploded while he was riding with his father in their family truck. Our hearts go out to the boy's family.
This story appeared on the news on July 13 or 14. This tragedy actually happened on June 22. The boy was a Palestinian Israeli citizen, On July 15 the first Israeli citizen, a Palestinian man, was killed by a Palestinian...I mean a rocket launched into Israel by Hamas . I got to keep current with the talking points.)
In other news, 193 Palestinian"s have been killed.
Score: Palestine 193 dead. Israel 1 dead.
What's in it for the USA? Are we playing the same game as Israel: "Say Uncle". In other words, do you recognize Israel's right to exist? That's some high stakes gambling when you figure in all the overkill.
It's also like since Israel is not recognized by Palestine then Israel somehow has the right to colonize Palestinian land and then build high security walls to keep the Palestinian's out.
It's also like since Israel does not recognize Palestine's right to exist then Palestine somehow has the right to be ignored by the world.
It's the overkill. Does Israel really think global opinion is going in their favor? It's the overkill.
Is this the best ya'll can do? Is this the best you can do? It's the overkill.
Where Have All the Flowers Gone
Religion. My god is truer than your god. My god is eternal salvation. No god can exist but my god. My god's better than your god.
It seems that throughout history when the revelation of God develops into a new religion the first thing religions want to do is kill each other and convert the world. Is it not possible for God to be revealed in more than one way or time? Don't underestimate God. Thou shalt not take God's name in vain.
Why is the blasphemous the spiritual guides of life and death? Should you really trust someone who clams the authority to be God's spokesperson?
How much harm, subjugation, death and destruction has been justified for the glory of God?
Thou shalt not take God's name in vain.
Religious heresy and bigotry in the USA is forbidden by law so not to prevent ethnic culture and religious observance and celebration. Traditional USA society plurality makes it possible to be one nation, indivisible with justice for all.
The USA doesn't always honor this founding foundation of liberty, but we eventually get it right and stop it.
Thou shalt not kill.

The Friends of Penn Treaty Park The night belonged to Rockfish. The crowd began to swell by the time the Nines came on stage. Penn Treaty Park was the place to be for neighbors to celebration our nations birthday. The crowd got right into an extra hot set by the Nines. Raw vocals among crashing drums and crunching guitar riffs rolled the park. A crowd started to form at the stage as people got up on their feet to dance to the music. Everyone was soon on their feet as the Nines guitarist played "The Star Spangled Banner" in the style of Hendrix. It was sweet. The moment was just right. The Nines fired away until the sun began to set. The crowd swelled even more in front of the stage. The night belonged to Rockfish.
