They Got a Makeover Too

Over a week ago Deb's friend phoned her. Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) is to perform on late night TV. Deb checked the cable listing and found the show only listed the music guest as Yusuf. "Do you think it's him" asked Deb. "Did you hear of a Yusuf?" "You think it could be someone else?"   Deb was getting anxious.
I told her I'd go on the internet and find out. I found the TV show's web page. Yusuf Cat's picture was featured on the home page. It also just said Yusuf.
We're ready. The show's on and finally Yusuf is introduced only as just Yusuf. He stood on stage wearing dark glasses in a black jacket with his guitar. He looked cool. His stance was man strong and not soft sitting. His song selection included "The First Cut Is The Deepest" and "Wild World" with a strong back-up band.
Will Yusuf go Dylan, turn electric, turn up the amp and drive on?

Here Easter time movies like "The King of Kings" and "The Greatest Story Ever Told" are shown on TV every year. A new show "The Bible" is now in the Easter TV mix. Deb said, "This is the one with the sexy Jesus." "Is this the one where you can see though the holes in Jesus' hand?" I asked her. She said yea. Later during the show Deb mentioned that Roma Downey, who portrays Mary, face is shot up with botox. It was. Other actress and actors and TV Jesus also were "botoxed."
The tearful grief of Mother Mary from the persecution, the whipping, flagellation, scourging, crucifixion and Jesus' own agony could not make their foreheads move. Nothing could.
It was easy to see during "The Bible" and many other films such as Clint Eastwood's masterpiece "Flags of Our Fathers" historical bright full sets of white straight teeth. It's in Bollywood. It's everywhere.
Wow! I'm now thinking about product placement.
